Experiential Astrology: Emergence

We now find ourselves in Gwangal Moronn. The days start with cool mornings which warm when the sun is out. The days are often still and end in golden evenings, cooling back down at night. I find myself getting outside into nature more often this time of year, not too hot, not too cool. This time of year is peak fungi fruiting season which will continue into the start of winter. Expect to find mushrooms and other fungi when out in the bush or your local parks. The grasses around have turned from their previous browns to greens as the rains have started and the sun is less harsh. The mosses are revitalising, and the usual 'weedy' herbs have started sprouting where I am located.

As much as I start being more active during this time, the cool evenings and mornings leave me also wrapped up inside with a cup of tea on the more overcast days, often with a book in hand. I think this perfectly expresses the zodiacal timing of this season! Gwangal Moronn starts almost parallel with Aries season. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and thus represents many 'starts': the sprouting of seeds, childhood, the start of a new cycle. The fire and cardinal aspects of this sign lend it to action and passion, although Aries is usually more for a quick and fun time than a long time... And then we have Taurus, fixed earth, being possibly the most slow and steady of the signs. Taurus is resourceful, grounded, and consistent. It is the earths bounty, the lush moss, the damp loam. Combined we have in this season the fruiting of fungi, of seedlings, of moss and grasses. The fire of Aries is tempered by the grounded earthiness of Taurus. It also aligns with the pagan celebration of Samhain (in the southern hemisphere). Just as the fire of Aries enters the earth of Taurus, so does the sun start to set earlier as our days grow shorter. I take this as a great time to take time for yourself and your individual passions. Especially after the community focus of Kooyang.
